DISA jigs utilize a method of beneficiation in a heavy liquid medium (either homogeneous or suspension), where grains of the heavier fraction with specific gravity greater than that of the liquid sink and settle to the bottom of the jig, while grains of the lighter fraction float to the surface of the liquid.
These beneficiation jigs are primarily used in mechanical processing plants for coal.
