The Dorra classifier (radial thickener) is designed for continuous operation, resembling a very large, circular, flat tank. In this tank, sludge from the centrally fed inlet is slowly pushed towards the outlet by rotating radial scrapers, while clarified water flows from the center towards the periphery (rim) of the tank with a slightly inclined bottom.
Classifiers are primarily used in mechanical coal processing plants.
